"REDSKINS" Disparagement Case Headlines TTAB's March 2013 Hearing Schedule
The Trademark Trial and Appeal Board has scheduled four (4) oral hearings for the month of March, as listed below. The hearings will be held in the East Wing of the Madison Building, in Alexandria, Virginia. March 7, 2013 - 2 PM: Blackhorse v. Pro Football, Inc., Cancellation No. 92046185 [This proceeding, the latest chapter in the long-running battle over the REDSKINS trademark registrations, began in 2006 when a new petition for cancellation was filed by six Native American petitioners seeking to knock out the registrations on the ground of Section 2(a) disparagement. These new petitioners had “only just recently reached the age of majority,” and therefore were not affected by the ruling of the courts that laches barred the claims of the prior petitioners].
