TTABlog News Flash: President Obama Signs Trademark Technical and Conforming Amendment Act of 2010

On March 17, President Obama signed into law the Trademark Technical and Conforming Amendment Act of 2010. Among other things, the law fixes an anomaly concerning the time periods for filing declarations of use under Section 71 of the Act (in connection with Madrid Extensions of Protection). 1. Is the effective date, the date the President signed it?

2. Too bad the government chose to spend money to study whether small business is harmed by corporate litigation strategy. Not a justifiable expense, and besides, small businesses and individual business people often misuse the courts and the trademark process with their tactics.

Anonymous, how do you think the fact that there are small businesses and individuals that "often misuse the courts and the trademark process with their tactics" means that the study is unjustified? Your "argument" is a non-sequitur; it is transparent for its bias; and it lacks either specificity or support as to its factual assertions.

Which doesn't mean the study isn't a waste, by the way.
